IT'S ALL ABOUT BELIEVING, YOU DON'T KNOW HOW IT WILL HAPPEN. BUT YOU KNOW IT WILL.
Meet Faith. The owner, visionary and backbone of Mama Gracie's Pregnancy Shop & Spa. She is literally one of the sweetest people I know. I want you to get a change to know her too.
So I decided to interview her!
When did you first know you wanted to own your own shop?
"When I worked for a woman entrepreneur in high school."
When did you realize it would be a Pregnancy Shop?
"Two years before writing the business plan I saw a need among my friends regarding challenges of trying to conceive, miscarriage and pregnancy with no place to be with other women. This got me brainstorming how to fund such a place."
What make's MGPS so special?
"When I wrote the business plan it was the opportunity to bring the best of natural pregnancy products and services to one place. Now that it is open, I would say the ability to inspire women to reach their dreams. The staff of Mama Gracie's have all indicated they dreamed of owning/working in a spa or yoga studio. All the women who make the handmade items all have a unique story and we have a High School student running our eBay store. How cool is that? "
How did you come up with the idea? How is this shop personal to you?
"Well, as I mentioned before I saw a lot of women with stories from their pregnancy and no place to go with them. There was such a separation of the doctor's office and the community. I wanted community around pregnancy. The name Mama Gracie's is because my husband and I are believed for a girl named Gracie".
"Yes, I am currently married to Corey and will celebrate 6 years later in July. I have a son who will be 22 years old later this month. I was a single mom for 14 years."
Where are you from/how long have you lived in Princeton?
"I am a born and raised Minneapolis girl and I have lived in Princeton for almost 3 years."
Is there anyone that inspired you to have a Pregnancy Shop & Spa?
"Well, technically God placed the vision of the pregnancy shop in my heart through prayer. The spa was an after-thought because of the space that was adjacent to the shop. Call the Midwife PBS TV Show affirmed to me we have lost what natural pregnancy looks like and the community that should exist in this season."
What is your message at the shop?
"I want all women to be informed of natural pregnancy so that they are able to make informed decisions that match their values and expectations. "
What is your goal with the shop (message, services, etc)?
"Mama Gracie's Pregnancy Shop & Spa must be financially sustainable by selling the best innovative natural products and services in order to provide the vision of the shop to its community and families. We are becoming a society that is forgetting about small local businesses. It is fun to shop online from a small town shop so don't forget we ship for free.. We love writing notes in our packages and sending love to expectant mamas."
When was your opening day?
"Labor Day 2015."
How long did you work to get the shop open?
"In early 2015 I won the Princeton It Starts Here Award for a business plan that poured out of me in about 30 days and on September 7, 2015 Mama Gracie's was birthed."
